Gable is a weather and radar app for Android. This policy explains what Gable uses, why, and where it goes. Gable has no user accounts, no analytics and no ads. Your places, settings and cached forecasts are stored on your device.
Location is optional. Gable asks for approximate location (about 1 km) only when you tap "Use current location", and reads it only while you're using the app. It never tracks your location in the background. Your current location is kept on your device so the app can reopen on it; it isn't saved as one of your places.
You can always search for a city instead, or turn location off in Android settings.
Places you save are stored only on your device. When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to Google's geocoding service, built into Android through Google Play services, to find matching places.
To get a forecast, Gable sends the coordinates of the place you're viewing (not your name or any account) to weather providers:
api.weather.gov) for U.S. forecasts and alerts, directly from your device.Gable's forwarding service doesn't keep your requests. Like any website, it sees your IP address while answering, which it uses only to limit abuse (a per-address request limit). Cloudflare hosts it under its own privacy policy.
The radar screen uses Google Maps for the base map, and loads radar imagery, warnings and map layers directly from NOAA and the National Weather Service. If you turn on Spotter's layers beyond the U.S., Canada's radar comes from Environment and Climate Change Canada and the worldwide rainfall estimate from NASA. These services receive the map area you're viewing. Google Maps is covered by Google's privacy policy.
If you turn on alert notifications, Gable checks the National Weather Service about every 15 minutes for active alerts at your saved places and your last known current location, and shows notifications on your device. This check runs on your phone. No Gable server stores your places, and alerts never read your location in the background.
Gable Spotter and Forecaster are sold through Google Play, which handles payment. Gable never sees your card or payment details. To confirm a subscription, the app sends Google Play's purchase token to Gable's forwarding service, which checks it with Google and returns whether it's active. Gable doesn't store purchase tokens on any server; your subscription status is kept on your device.
Gable has no user accounts, no analytics or tracking tools, and no advertising. It doesn't sell or share your data for advertising, and it doesn't build a profile of you. Gable's data isn't included in Android device backups.
These services receive the data described above and handle it under their own policies:
Gable (by Millwright Apps) keeps your data on your phone, not on a Gable server. To delete it:
What's kept, and for how long:
Gable is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "last updated" date.
